Sweet Butter Cornbread Croutons

Sweet Butter Cornbread Croutons - need I say more?  What makes them even better is there is 0 trans fat.
If you like cornbread than these croutons are definitely your bag, baby. Salads taste just so much better with these croutons. I can eat these croutons like chips and it's very hard to not pour the whole bag onto my salad. I think I'll try these with homemade chili next week. Yummy!

Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails

The old adage "Better late than never" definitely applies to my scrapbook intentions.  Here's a page I did of my first-born son who is going to be 17 years old this year. In the pictures below he has the collection of the vintage-style Pooh and Friends plush toys. I tried to make my baby kiss the animals for the pic. But just like a boy he thought throwing his plush toys across the room, pulling them apart, and chewing on them was much more fun. Thus...snips and snails...came to mind when I scrapped the pics.

I love Winnie the Pooh! While growing up we lived very frugally so I never actually owned a stuffed Pooh Bear. He seemed elusive to me as if he were a toy only for people who had money because it was only my wealthier friends who owned Pooh. I remember even back in the 70s an average-sized Pooh cost about $12 which was very costly. There was also an enormous Pooh bear on display at Sears.  If I recall correctly he must have been 6-ft tall in the sitting position. Every time we went shopping I would throw myself on him. Kids were always climbing poor ole Pooh.  I was very sad when they took the display down.

Although we didn't have many toys, we did have books thanks to my mom's connection at Treasury Drug where she was a cashier.  The magazine/book man gave her and the other employees books after he ripped the covers off.  My mom informed me that the publishers only required the covers to return and the book man was going to throw the books away. So every once in a while my mom would come home with a box of assorted books in all genres including children's books, romance, non-fiction, fiction, and dramatic books like "Mommy Dearest".  In the mountain of books we received there was one precious Winnie the Pooh book.  It was that book in which I fell in love with Pooh and Piglet. I wanted to live in the magical 100-Acre Wood with them. I often stared at the illustrations trying to will myself into the book.  So when I was pregnant I was excited to buy everything that had Pooh Bear on it.  My mom and sisters even threw a Pooh Bear baby shower for me. I wanted to bring the 100-Acre Wood into my home where my baby and I could go on fun adventures together just like Pooh and Piglet.

The word "snips" is for a small eel.

Tale As Old As Time...Beauty and the Beast

Pinned Image
The re-release of "Beauty and the Beast" in 3D starts today. It perfectly coincides with my birthday weekend. This is my favorite Disney movie by far. I know that the graphics of the newer movies far exceed "Beauty and the Beast" but I just fell in love with this movie from the very first scene.  I still remember my mouth dropping in awe because the cartoon looked so life like.  So I'm excited to see what it looks like in 3D digitally enhanced. We'll probably feel like we're in the movie.

I especially love the songs and sometimes when I'm feeling low I sing the songs to get my spirits moving or it gives me the words to express my feelings such as "I want adventure in the great wide somewhere, I want it more than I can tell. And for once it might be grand to have someone understand that I want so much more than they have planned."

I love the movie so much I had my husband take me to the Broadway play for our anniversary in 1997. Here's some stuff I have on permanent display in my house.

This is a music box that plays "Tale as Old as Time".

Here's me with the Beast 20 years ago. I stood in line for a while to get this picture. Belle only wanted pics with little kids so I don't have a pic with her. I think she thought I was a freak because I was standing in line with a bunch of little kids. (Hey! I'm a kid at heart. How could she not understand that?) I made my husband watch the show (again) when we were at Disney World.

One of my favorite scenes is when the Beast showed Belle his library.  It was just glorious. How I would love to have a library such as that!

Cogsworth Cupcake
Since it's my b-day this weekend I might be inspired by the movie to make Cogsworth cupcakes.  All it takes is Tootsie Rolls, marshmallows, Twizzler, chocolate chips, piping gel, candy, and slivered almonds to make this.

If my husband and I ever renew our vows this is the cake I might possibly choose.

For those of you who still like paper dolls here's a link to download Belle.
