Many of these offers require a print out of your email. Be sure to use the backside of scratch paper because they just throw your coupon away after you redeem it. No reason to use perfectly good copy paper.

If you shop at Victoria Secret in January they are clearancing their winter clothes. I got this set for $19.98 with birthday coupon.

Getting $20 off our 2 entrees at Buca Di Beppo. Great deal because we took our leftovers home and had another meal.

Coupons at Target for Halloween Candy

All the Halloween candy at Target is on clearance at 30% off.

If you go to here Target still has coupons on candy you can print. 

The Halloween decor is 50% off.

I bought the jumbo bags (19-20oz) of Hershey's chocolate bars (for s'mores) and Reeses peanut butter cups at  $3.49 each.
$6.98 - 1.50 coupon = 5.48

The smaller bags (11-13 oz) are $1.88.
The jumbo bags are actually a better deal if you compare ounces.

Monster House Costume

My youngest child never wants to buy Halloween costumes from the store. He always wants me to make his costumes. I don't even know where he got the idea that I could make his costumes. The problem is I don't really know how to sew so I'm always hard pressed on what costume to make.  I made this costume 5 years ago when he was still small.  I wish I took more pics from start to finish.  But these few pics are all I have.  

I used one big box for the house and another box for the chimney and the protruding window.  I used shipping tape to adhere the window and the roof is actually the flaps of the box taped up. I cut the the arm holes, windows, door, and the flaps of the shingles which is also the eye holes. Then I papier-mâchéd the entire box to reinforce the strength of the box.  

Paper Mâché Paste Recipe

Flour and Water

Mix 1 part flour to 2 parts water until you have a thick glue-like consistency. You want it a little runny. You can add more flour if needed. If you live in a high-humidity area add salt to prevent mold. Mix until there are no more lumps.

Allow to dry overnight and paint. I used acrylic paints.

I also bought a big car wash sponge from the dollar store and glued it inside the roof for cushion because the box was slightly heavy. I used a white styrofoam plate for the teeth, yellow paper for the windows and stretched a couple of big-sized cotton balls to form hazy smoke for the chimney. I used Elmer's glue to glue it all, nothing fancy.

Friday Garage Sale Finds

I love garage sales. I am always excited when I find an item that I can't believe someone is willing to sell. 

I got this painting for only $5. It's a good-sized painting which is why I was surprised it was only five bucks.  A lady painted it for the seller's son. He didn't want it anymore and kept it in his mom's garage for years and that's why she sold it.  The inscription on the back is dated my son's birthday which I thought was pretty cool.

I also went to an estate sale. I thought it was a hoarder's house because it was jammed pack full of stuff. I assumed the owner had passed away because an estate sale company was managing the sale. Many items were priced way too high for a garage sale such as the Barbie and Ken doll below. The price tags were $300 and $195 respectively.  After talking to one of the sales ladies I found out that the the estate sale was for a lady who has breast cancer and it has spread to her spine. After hearing this news I tried to find something to buy because I wanted to help. So I rummaged in the $1-2 boxes and managed to find these items. On the last day of the estate sale the prices were going to drop 50% which was very tempting, but I already had other plans and couldn't go back. She had a lot of Hallmark Star Trek and Star Wars Keepsake ornaments that I would have gone back for. I still would not buy the Barbie for $150 though. Hopefully I don't see that same Barbie on Antiques Road Show valued at $700 or something ridiculous that will make me regret not buying it.

Additional 40% Off Marked Down Merchandise @ Dillard's

The sale starts today, September 29, but I can't go. I'm getting antsy about this sale. I am imagining that all the good stuff is flying off the shelves.  But I haven't done a lick of housework so far this week so I don't deserve to go to the Dillard's sale.  I am cleaning today but I can't seem to get away from the computer.  If I can clean the house today, I can go to Dillard's tomorrow guilt free.

These type of sales usually ends on Sunday but sometimes they end Saturday night. Check with your local store.

What to Do with Expired Coupons

I used to get upset every time I found an expired coupon that I didn't use, especially if it was a great coupon. But recently I found out that our US military can use expired coupons up to 6 months after the expiration date. Now when I see an expired coupon and it's a really good one I don't get upset because I know that someone else more deserving may use it. Please pay it forward to our troops who sacrifice so much for us. This is one of the easiest things that anybody can do.

Following are 2 addresses to which you can mail your coupons to. Please pay attention to the rules such as separating them into 2 stacks of foods and non-foods. Each organization has their own rules.

Did you know that overseas military members can use expired coupons up to six months past their expiration date?  Military families stationed overseas are often living on one income and money can be scarce. Let’s support our military by showing them some coupon love! The readers of TheKrazyCouponLady.com are coming together each month to send our unused and expired coupons overseas.  Please join us in sending in your coupons to one of our many adopted bases.

• Overseas military members can use expired coupons up to six months past their expiration date at the base’s grocery store and department store.
• Only send CLIPPED manufacturer coupons that are 30 days expired or less. Do NOT send store or restaurant coupons.
• Sort coupons into Food and Non-Food categories. If humans eat it for calories (including gum, beverages, mints, and diet shakes), it is in the Food category. If humans do not eat it (toiletries, pet food, vitamins/ medicine), it is Non-Food.
• Large volume shipments are best received in zipped baggies. Label the clipped coupons on the outside of the baggie or a piece of paper at the front.
• For smaller shipments, you may use a standard size envelope. Make sure the envelopes are not too thick (or they run the risk of getting damaged in the automated post system). Consider using snack size zipper baggies to divide the Food and Non-Food coupons.
• Avoid sticky notes which can tear the coupon it is attached to. Simply divide the Food and Non-Food coupons by writing on the zipped bags or a scrap piece of paper.
• No paper clips or rubber bands– these can also catch and tear the coupons during shipment.
• Please clip and sort coupons– this saves our volunteer time, and they get to our troops faster!

How do I sort the coupons?

Separate your clipped coupons into two categories: Food and Non-Food
Most military bases have 2 stores. One is called the “Commissary” which is a grocery store and the other is the PX or BX which is a department store. We therefore ask you to sort the coupons into “food” and “non-food” bundles so that they can more easily be placed in the correct venue once they arrive at the base.

Label the Bundles
Try to use a baggie to separate your coupons instead of paper clips or rubber bands.

Is there a minimum donation?

No! Please send any coupons you may have. We only ask that you mail them only once a month. It will just be easier business this way!

May my family or community organization adopt our own base?
